Crucial elements in a solar project teaser

In the realm of renewable energy, the process of matching investors with suitable projects is often marred by inefficiencies and miscommunication. For around a decade, we have observed this firsthand in the renewable energy sector, particularly in the context of solar projects. It became evident that the quality of solar project teasers played a significant role in these challenges. So, in this article, we outline the necessities for a sound and solid solar project teaser.

Designing an effective solar project teaser

To redefine the structure and content of solar project teasers for maximum effect, we have engaged with investors and asked the following questions to get a better view of the optimal solar project teaser:

  • What constitutes a compelling project teaser in your view?
  • Which information holds relevance for you as an investor?
  • How should a solar project teaser be structured to facilitate seamless transactions in your opinion?

Leveraging our extensive expertise in renewable energy project financing, we developed a new template for both wind and solar projects. The primary objective of this revamped structure is to streamline the process for asset owners, enabling them to furnish investors with pertinent information about their projects.

The structure of a good teaser

Outlined below are the key components of our new solar project teaser template, designed to attract keen investors.

Section I: Project Development Overview

This section provides investors with a comprehensive overview of the project development journey. It encompasses five stages:

  • Site Identification and Concept Development
  • Pre-feasibility Study
  • Feasibility Study
  • Permitting, Financing, and Contracts
  • Engineering, Construction, and Commercial Operation

Section II: Energy Yield Prediction

Here, asset owners outline their projections for energy yield over the project’s lifespan, offering investors valuable insights into the project’s potential performance. Getting this part as close to the actual power generation output is important, but many still fail at power generation projections.

Section III: Plant design considerations

This section delves into the technical aspects of the project, including the selection of PV modules, inverters, transformers, and mounting structures. It emphasizes compliance with grid regulations and warranty terms.

Section IV: Permitting, licensing, and environmental considerations

Assessing the project’s regulatory landscape and environmental impact is crucial for investor confidence. This section evaluates the status of permits and licenses, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.

Section V: Financial analysis and viability assessment

A thorough financial analysis is vital for evaluating the project’s commercial viability. This section examines expected costs, investment requirements, operational expenses, and revenue projections. When going into discussions with investors about the returns of your project, it’s important to fully understand how the showcased returns are calculated.

Section VI: Partnership roles and responsibilities

Clarifying the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders is essential for smooth project execution. This section delineates tasks and obligations for developers and investors, fostering clarity and accountability.

Section IX: Pre-requisites for investment

Understanding the prerequisites for investment is crucial for aligning expectations between asset owners and investors. This section outlines the object of purchase and the cost structures involved in the transaction.

Conclusion: Harnessing the power of a well-crafted solar teaser

A well-crafted solar project teaser serves as the cornerstone of successful investor engagement. By incorporating these key elements into their teasers, asset owners can enhance transparency, credibility, and efficiency in the process of raising capital for your solar project.
